Wanda Kay Rhodes' Obituary
Wanda Kay Hardin Rhodes was born January 10, 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to George Hurshall Hardin and Julia Marguerite Bloyed Hardin. She passed from this life Friday night November 29, 2025 at home in Bixby, Oklahoma. She was 77 years old. Kay was reared and educated in Tulsa. She attended Lowell Elementary and Middle School, and graduated from Tulsa Central High School class of 1966.
Kay married James E. (Jim) Rhodes on February 27, 1971 in Tulsa. They lived briefly in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, then moved to Tulsa, then finally to Bixby. She worked various jobs in Tulsa. For about ten years, Kay volunteered at the Garnett Church of Christ, then was on staff in the church office for about ten more years, handling many kinds of tasks. She enjoyed researching the family trees of herself and Jim. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching TV and volunteering at church. Kay spent countless hours locating her classmates from Central High School, and helped organize their reunions and parties. Her great attention to detail played a big part in the success of those events.
Kay is survived by husband Jim of the home, and their son Kevin Rhodes of Sapulpa Oklahoma. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Margaret Sue Garner and Geraldine Evans, and her daughter Kimberly Jo (Kim) Rhodes. Thanks to Compassus Hospice Care for their help in Kay's final days. Special thanks to son Kevin Rhodes and his girlfriend Krista for the loving care they provided during all the difficult times. Family will celebrate Kay's life in a private ceremony. We look forward to seeing her again with Christ.
