Lit a candle in memory of Wanda Thomas
I was a student of Mrs. Thomas while at Nathan Hale, graduating in 1983. I was among the hundreds who learned both English language and life lessons at the desks in her classroom. I often refer to my English teachers as Hale as the Terrible T's, for I had Mrs. Thomas as a sophomore, Mrs. Townsend as a junior, and Mrs. Tackett as a senior.For the past 30 years, the lessons that these women taught me, both in and out of their classrooms have shaped my life. I have been a vocational minister for the past 30 years. I daily use the writing skills that I learned from them. They taught me a love for words and grammar and literature. But more than that; they all exemplified the love of Christ.I was saddened to hear of her passing, but praise God to know that I will see her again in Heaven's glory. Though I failed to tell her how much she taught me, my hope is that she knows she made a difference in the lives of so many.Wanda Thomas – You were an excellent teacher, an incredible example of Christian character; and a tribute to your profession.Thank you for blessing my life.Clayton Griggs – Class of '83.
