Wanda Louise Wilburn's Obituary
Wanda Louise Wilburn was born October 23, 1935 in Tulsa. Oklahoma to Millard. Taliaferro anc Edith (Henry) Taliaferro. She attended Tulsa Public Schools through 2nd grade when her family moved to Ventura, California. They moved back to Tulsa in 1946. She attended Roosevelt Jr. High School and Central High School until the tenth grade when her father caught an itch to move. At Roosevelt and Central she was one year behind her future husband Ray, though they did not know one another, Although she considered Commerce OK High her alma mater, she graduated from Carlsbad, New Mexico High and from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in Accounting.
Upon graduation from ENMU she returned to Tulsa and worked for American Airlines until the accounting office was moved to New York in 1962. She met her future husband Ray through the young singles at 10th & Rockford church in Tulsa and they were married on June 9th, 1962.
She was a stay-at-home mother after that.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Edith Taliaferro; and by siblings, Charles Taliaferro, Freeda Manning and Anita Butts.
She is survived by husband Ray and by daughters Cheryl Lynn Nelms and husband Lance;
Janice Lea Thoumire and husband Eric; and Dana Louise Martin and husband Mike.
By grandchildren Michael Martin and wife Kathy, Jeannie Nelms, Daniel Nelms, Katelyn Nelms, Hannah Sosa and husband Nathan, Olivia Sosa, Caleb Martin, and Abigail Martin. By great-grandchildren Hunter Martin, Parker Martin, Serenity Allison, Jaxon Parrott, Milo Phillips, Grayson Swope, Anastasia Swope, and Hudson Sosa.
She passed away January 29, 2024 in Tulsa, OK... Burial in Floral Haven Cemetery.
