Wanna June Purdy's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Wanna June Purdy
Wanna June Purdy, lovingly known as "June", was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. June passed away surrounded by family on Friday, January 26th, 2024, at the age of 90 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born Indiahoma, Oklahoma to Louis and Pearl Williams on July 23, 1933. On March 10th, 1951, she married the love of her life, Joe Purdy, in Wichita Falls. Together they had 5 children, Beverly, Michael, Todd, Richard, and Joey. In 1968, they moved their family to Tulsa, Oklahoma. June worked at several different jobs as a make-up consultant. Any chance she had; she was teaching you how to correctly apply your make-up!
June loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. She was also a skilled piano and violin player. Whether she was playing her favorite instruments or singing out loud, June constantly filled her home with music. Every Sunday, she was thrilled to play her violin in the choir at her home church Eastland Assembly of God. Along with being a musician, she was also a very crafty lady. Most of her spare time, you could find her at her sewing machine or in her chair creating beautiful blankets for her family and friends. June wasn’t just your average stay at home mom and grandma, she was a one-of-a-kind type of lady with many skilled traits who loved her family so very much.
June is predeceased by her parents Dimple and Lewis Williams, her beloved husband Joe Purdy, and children Richard and Joey Purdy. She is survived by her children: Beverly (Granville) Montgomery, Michael (Llda) Purdy, and Todd Purdy. Siblings: Lois Nichols, Louis Jr. (Vicki) Williams, Dee (Joe) Kelley, and Steve (Sara) Williams. Grandchildren: Ryan (Jennifer) Purdy, Lacey Purdy, Jessica (Josh) Hamilton, Jordan Montgomery, Laura (Travis) Ford, Chelsey (Gary) Mercer, Brittany (Chris) Husong, and Rebecca Montgomery. Great-grandchildren: Jaiden Purdy, Madisyn Husong, Michaela Klatt, Ella Purdy, Landon Ford, A’myiah Hamilton, Carson Ford, Emma Mercer, Athena Husong, Ava Ford, Lilianna Hamilton, and Ezra Mercer.
