Wayne E. Henderson's Obituary
Wayne Eugene “Gene” Henderson, age 82, of Tulsa passed away on October 7, 2019. He was born September 4, 1937 to B.C. and Loraine Henderson in Weleetka, OK and was the eldest of three children. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served three years with two years stationed in Germany. After being home for a year he met the love of his life, Helen Lorraine Mowery, on a blind double-date with his cousin and her best friend. He and Lorraine were married December 4, 1959.Gene started working at Frito-Lay in 1965 and worked his way up in the company until he became the Zone Sales Manager. He retired in 2000 after dedicating 35 years to the company.Gene will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his great story telling, his love of golf, fishing and boating and spending countless hours at their lake house (his endless retirement project). Gene was dedicated to his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; son, Dennis and wife Cindy Henderson and their children Megan, Emily and Ty; daughter, Lorrie and husband Mark Woodard and their children Kayla and Kevin; son Danny Henderson; sister, Rosemary and brother, David; and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Floral Haven located at 6500 South 129th East Avenue in Broken Arrow. Services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 2:00pm at Floral Haven’s Rose Chapel. Reception provided by Skelly Drive Baptist Church located at 8504 East Skelly Drive in Tulsa.
