Waynona Jean Swope (May 14, 1945 – August 8, 2024)
Waynona Jean Swope, beloved wife, mother, and traveler, passed away on August 8, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on May 14, 1945, in Welch, Oklahoma, to Wayne Miller and Lula Jean (Gross) Cooper.
In her younger years, Waynona worked at a shoe store in Coffeyville, Kansas. Later, she served as a recruiter at Tiffany Bowl in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Waynona and her husband, Bob Swope, shared a passion for travel. They explored the United States extensively, from New York to California and Hawaii. In California, they delighted in visiting Disneyland and San Francisco. The Hawaiian Islands held a special place in their hearts, having been their destination five times. Their adventures extended beyond the U.S., including trips to England, Scotland, and Ireland.
Waynona had an eye for photography and was often found behind the camera, capturing memories of their journeys. She enjoyed spending time at casinos, connecting with friends on Facebook, and dining out.
Waynona is survived by her husband, Bob Swope, and son: Steven Swope (Candy) and their triplets Susie, Same and Nate; son, Christopher Swope (Jillian) and their sons Alex (Olivia) and Anden; and great-grandchildren, Grayson and Anastasia. She also leaves behind her nephew, John Swope (Sara), and niece, Rhonda Foster.
The visitation will take place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 13th, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14th, at Floral Haven Rose Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
