Wesley Barnett's Obituary
Wesley Barnett, age 84, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed peacefully from this life Thursday, November 17, 2022 in his home surrounded by his wife. Wesley James Barnett was born November 07, 1938, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Cyrus Grant and Leta Belle (Turner) Barnett. Wesley married the love of his life, Nancy Shields on February 05, 1959, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They were happily married for 63 years and had two beautiful daughters, Becky Lynn and Brenda Ann.
Wesley proudly served his country for ten years as a member of the United States Navy. He worked amongst nuclear weapons in Virginia and Florida all the way to Puerto Rico and Cuba where he made his ranks to Chief Petty Officer. After honorable discharge in 1968, Wesley went on to work for Conoco Oil Company, where he worked as a Pipeline Superintendent for 33 years. While he was an avid golfer, guitar player and Veteran, his proudest accomplishments were being a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Wesley will be dearly missed by his wife: Nancy Barnett; two daughters: Becky McMurphy and Brenda Staires(husband Troy); grandchildren: Kacie Urbeck(husband Kevin), Ryan McMurphy(fiancé Nora Saunders), Heather Tapp(husband Jamie), and Jason Staires; great-grandchildren: Kamdyn Tapp, Boston Tapp, Paislee Staires, and Owen Staires; brothers: Kenneth Barnett and Ronnie Barnett(wife Janet); and sister: Phylis McAdams(husband Bill) and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Cyrus Grant and Leta Belle Barnett; and sister: Pat Kahle.
A visitation will be held 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Floral Haven Visitation Suites in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 01, 2022, at the Funeral Home Rose Chapel, in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
