William "Leroy" Burgin's Obituary
William “Leroy” Burgin 88, November 26, 1928- February 2, 2017. He passed away in his home with family by his side. Grace Hospice did a great job with his care. He was the son of Roy and Hazel Burgin. He graduated from Webster High School in 1947. He met the love of his life Mary Sue Carlton they were married for 59 years. He was employed as an Electrician for Tulsa Public Schools maintenance department. He was drafted and served for 2 years in the Army. After the Army he returned to work at Tulsa Public Schools and retired from there after 39 years. Leroy and Mary were blessed with 3 children. One son named Carlton “Sonny”, and 2 daughters, Susan and Pam. He was the neighborhood mechanic everyone came to him if they needed anything fixed. Leroy loved going to the flea market with his best friend Bill Jackson, and finding all kinds of treasures. He liked watching wheel of fortune and Gun Smoke. He also enjoyed working the crossword puzzle and reading the comic strip, pickles and zits, in the Tulsa World. He liked collecting pocket knives and clocks. For years he drove around in a 1950 Chevrolet truck that everyone admired and wanted. In his later years you could find him at McDonalds having his Crispy Chicken Patty with sweet and sour sauce or at the YWCA riding the exercise bike. Leroy took care of his wife Mary toward the end of her life, she passed away January 2008. Leroy is survived by his sister Delores Bewley, his daughters Susan Green and Pam Casillas. Also his son- in- law Manuel Casillas and daughter- in- law Dana Burgin. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Roy & Hazel Burgin, his wife Mary Burgin, his son Carlton “Sonny” Burgin, and son-in-law Thomas “Tom” Green. . And brother- in- law George Carlton. He has 7 grandchildren, Brian Green, Jeremy Burgin, Carrie Christensen, Michael Green, Darrell Besser, Jennifer Green, and JJ Casillas / Spouses: Shawna Green, Lindsey Harper, Lauren Green, and Anna Casillas. He has 12 great grandchildren, Stella, Ruby, Hadley, Carley, Cyrus, Tytus, Tre, Claire, Drew, Mattrew, Zachary, and Manny. In lieu of flowers please make a donations to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
