William "Bill" Eugene Johnson's Obituary
William Eugene Johnson, Bill to everyone that knew him, was born at home in Drumright, OK on March 27, 1933 to Jessie May Edison Johnson and George T. Johnson, Sr. The family moved to Tulsa, OK in 1943. Bill graduated from Sapulpa High School May 1951 and started working for Western Electric, that same year.One year after graduating from high school, Bill took a leave of absence from his job at Western Electric to join the Army. He was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. After two tours of duty, he returned to Oklahoma and his job at Western Electric. He started in the tool room and moved up to installations , staying with the company through the transition to AT&T and ending his 38 year career as Manager of Sales and Installation for Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas.He became skilled at whatever he needed to be self sufficient. Tackling electrical, plumbing, construction and whatever else was required to maintain his home and rental properties. His true passion was cars, motorcycles and racing. He was a genius mechanic. Spending all his spare time working on cars and motorcycles. Always looking for the next project. Bill was a jack-of-all-trades, master of many.Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother George Johnson and daughter Dawn Johnson. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Gwen (Rick) King and Krista (James) Nichols; ex-wife Eleanor Sandusky; sisters Jerry (Lloyd) Coats and Lola Millman; grandsons Franklin Johnson and Cody Nichols; great-grandson Layton and many nieces, nephews and extended family.Visitation will be held on Monday, 6/12, from 5 pm – 8 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Services are set for 3:00 pm, Tuesday, June 13, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.Friends and family are welcomed to gather for lunch following the service. The lunch will be hosted at 6912 S. Chestnut in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
