My dad took me to my first airshow at McConnell AFB, Wichita, KS. The USAF Thunderbirds performed that year. I got my picture taken in the cockpit of a F4 Phantom. The aircraft and the demonstrations sparked a flame that has not dimmed in more than the 50 years hence. I gained a love for history. This all thanks to my dad, who continued to encourage my interests, even when they were no in line with what he thought I should do.
Even though I had all my math credits in high school before my junior year started, my Dad insisted I continue to take math classes. His "insistence" (or better term may be threat of bodily harm) to continue the math courses has led me on an exciting journey throughout my professional and personal life. I'm 65 years old now, and the older I get the dumber I am. Also with that, the older I get, the smarter my Dad was.
