William "Bill" Lewis Kent's Obituary
William “Bill” Lewis Kent, a resident of Pryor, passed away October 29, 2017 at the age of 81. He was born November 27, 1935, the day before Thanksgiving in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bill graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1954.Bill and Betty were Charter Members of Pryor Creek Optimist Club and were active members of First United Methodist Church of Pryor. Bill worked his entire working life in the automotive field. He worked as General Motors Part Manager until 1981. He opened his own automotive repair business in Claremore and later after his marriage to Betty, they built Pryor Automotive Repair. They sold their business in 1991. Bill and Betty owned a cabin on Grand Lake and enjoyed it until 2012 and retired back into their Pryor home.Bill enjoyed boating, fishing and owning old cars. He owned several classic cars. His first car was a 1931 Ford Victoria and paid $35.00 for it when he was 15 years old and restored it. He owned around 100 cars that he could remember.He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Dessie Kent; three sisters, Ruby Laughlin, Mary Tyner and Edith Proctor; two brothers, Clive J. Kent and John R. Kent; first wife, Doris B. Kent in 1985 and second wife, Betty M. Kent in 2016.Survivors include his son, John E. Kent and wife, Rosemary; granddaughter, Maranda Young and husband, Brad; grandson, Clayton Kent; one great grandson, Brenden Young; several nieces, nephews, as well as several great nieces and great nephews.Viewing will be Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow.Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roger E. Parker officiating. Burial will follow the service at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow.Pallbearers will be Jimmy Kent, Aaron Jarvis, Jeff Jarvis, Garrett Jarvis, Rick Kent and Shawn Botsford.
