William Edward Morris, Jr., age 100, passed from this life on July 8, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on June 13, 1926, in Evansville, Indiana, William entered the world as the son of William Edward Morris, Sr. and Sybil (Barney) Morris. From an early age, he possessed a strong sense of duty and patriotism that would shape the course of his life.
William proudly answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his naval service, he continued his dedication to America by serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. His military service reflected his unwavering courage, commitment, and love for his nation, qualities that remained evident throughout his 100 years of life.
On September 11, 1949, William married the love of his life, Laura Faye McGilliard. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and devotion to one another. Their loving union was blessed with three children, and throughout the years they created a legacy that extended through generations.
William was an avid golfer, he enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie the game provided. He also had a deep love for boating and cherished the many memories made on the water with family and friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent at the family's home on Grand Lake.
Those who knew William will remember a man of honor, strength, and kindness. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, proud veteran, and faithful friend whose life was marked by service, integrity, and dedication to his family. Having witnessed a century of history and change, William remained steadfast in his values and grateful for the blessings of life.
William is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Laura Faye Morris; children Steven Morris and his wife Billie Sue, Jan Morris Nitcher and her husband Bob, and James Mac Morris; grandchildren Emily Faye Kirby, Walter Nitcher, William Nitcher, Andrea Marie McMains, Michaela Rae Fite, and Jamie Shaun Casey; great grandchild Keaton Daniel Kirby; along with other family members and friends who will forever cherish their time with William Edward Morris Jr.
