William Overman's Obituary
William Eugene "Bill" Overman was born in Nowata, Oklahoma on October 16, 1940, the youngest son of Clarence and Una (Crockett) Overman.
During his school years in Tulsa, he developed what would become a lifelong love of music learning to play the piano, clarinet, oboe and saxophone. He played in the band at Central High School where he graduated with the Class of 1959.
As a young man, Bill was an accomplished outdoorsman and was recognized as an Eagle Scout.
After finishing high school, he attended Oklahoma City University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Bill was proud of his service in the United States Air Force from March of 1961 until December of 1965 during the Vietnam war serving part of that time in Japan.
He had two different seasons during his career following his military service. He loved people, and had a gift for sales and service. For many years he owned Midwest Cycle Parts in Tulsa, but finished his career in commercial sales with Metro Builders Supply.
Bill loved to travel. He and his wife Verlyn had many adventures traveling by motorcycle and even traveled to Paris, France for the 1992 Winter Olympics. During the summers, you might find them traveling to different stadiums around the country to watch his beloved St. Louis Cardinals play baseball.
Bill & Verlyn (Beale) were married in January 1977 and considered their large, loving family such a blessing. Their CHILDREN: William “Billy” Overman Jr. ; Paul Michael Overman and wife Donna; Lisa Luper and husband Buzz; Lisa Bycroft and husband Trist; and Lori Hendricks and husband Steve GRANDCHILDREN: Jessica, Chance, Brandon, Patrick, Derick, Drew, Cassandra, Rebecca, Beau, Elizabeth, Addyson, Henry, Cade and 12 great grandchildren were the delight of his life!
Bill loved Jesus and had a strong, personal faith in Him, and on Thursday, October 12th, he stepped into Glory and "Moved to Heaven".
His arrival there was preceded by his parents, Clarence and Una, his brother, Harold, and his great-grandson, Jaxton Hughes.
He will be laid to rest at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
