William Stacey Ruth's Obituary
William Stacey Ruth was born to William B. and Ladell Ruth on October 06, 1962 in Madera, California and passed away as a result of an accident on February 19, 2016 while driving home from work. He grew up in Fresno California where he developed a love for riding motorcycles at a very young age. He enjoyed being in the ROTC program, football and tennis as a high school teen. He received awards and recognition from President Ronald Reagan for placing 2nd in the nation in a national marksmanship competition. He began working in construction and did so for 12 years. He met his wife, Vicki on a group camping trip in California where he always maintained that he was a content bachelor and was completely “blindsighted”. They were married in Durant, Oklahoma and shortly thereafter began his 20 year career with Lowe’s Home Center’s starting at the Sherman Texas store. He was relocated to Charleston, South Carolina where he worked out of the corporate office as a traveling area inventory manager which he did for 9 years. During that time he was relocated back to Tulsa where more inventory managers were needed. When that position concluded he went back into management at the Tulsa Hills Lowe’s location where he was currently employed. William loved his family! He was happiest when he could load everybody up and go camping and fishing. He also enjoyed and found contentment working on the small family cattle ranch in southeastern Oklahoma. He jokingly said he felt like he must have been a cowboy in a previous life and he would sometimes refer to his beloved Harley as his ‘metal horse”. He was so proud of his 3 sons and his daughter. While attending the 3rd graduation ceremony of his last son becoming a marine, the Marine Corp Commander shook his hand and thanked him for the service of his son at which time William replied, “thank you sir but you now have 3 of my sons but you won’t be getting my daughter!” William always lit up like a christmas tree when he could see his 3 grandchildren. He was truly a happy grandpa. He loved his mother deeply! He missed not getting to see his siblings as often as he would have liked to but as he said, “my love is always there for them”. Some of William’s favorite things other than his family (and his Harley) were mexican food, homemade ice cream, John Wayne, westerns and sci-fi movies, ‘Oakland Raiders, Jimmie Johnson, helping others, his, truck, his lazy boy chair in the man cave, controlling the remote —–and Maureen O’Hara. At the time of William’s passing he was wearing three dog tags —– his father’s dog tag from his service in the US Army, one that says “Lifeguard – mine walks on water”, and the third, “iN GOD I TRUST.” William is survived by his wife, Vicki, his sons Jared Ruth, twin sons, Tyler Ruth, and Tevis Ruth, daughter Kathryn “Katie” Ruth, His beloved mother, Ladell Ruth of Austin, Texas, his siblings, William Douglas Ruth of Chowchilla, CA., Jeremy Ruth of Austin, Texas, LaDonna Elkins of Porterville, CA., Dottie Moltrum of Modesto, CA.and, Retta Taylor of Atwater, CA., his grandchildren, Kylee, Andrew, and Tristan, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends and co-workers.
