He then attended Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater for one year before entering the U.S. Navy in January 1953 until his honorable discharge in April 1956. Upon leaving the Navy he attended Bakersfield Junior College in California before returning to Oklahoma State University where he graduated with an electrical engineering degree in 1963.Bill worked in the aerospace industry in the Tulsa area for twenty-five years. He married Betty Akers on May 12, 1967. They lived in Tulsa for 10 years before moving to Broken Arrow in 1977 with their three children, daughter, Tammie Lynn Scott born 12-01-69, son, Wm. Langston Scott, Jr. born 05-02-70 and son, Jacob Morgan Scott, II born 12-17-71. All three children are married and there are a total of seven grandchildren, five girls and two boys. Bill missed out on the greatest gift of God can give a parent and that is grandchildren. Bill served on the Union School Board from 1974 until 1977. He was also active in YFR 4-H as a leader and had just received his five-year service pin at the time of his death. Bill died on Thursday, October 13, 1988 of a massive heart attack…. Bill was one of those rare people who have the capacity to always place a higher priority on the things he was doing for others than what he was doing for himself. You don’t get to know a man like Bill Scott many times in your life, and when he is gone, the loss is great. His family and friends thank him for the richness he brought to their lives.Submitted by Betty A. Scott
