Willis Wegwerth Harris' Obituary
Willis Wegwerth Harris, age 87, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Thursday, October 13, 2022 in Tulsa. He was born to Charles Edward and Mildred May (Murray) Harris on March 15, 1935, in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up in Topeka, Kansas; attended Washburn University in Topeka; University of Tulsa, and Tulsa Junior College. Willis married the love of his life, Mary Bernarda Gilbreath, at the Boston Avenue Methodist Church, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Willis retired as a traffic and transportation specialist and was formerly employed by: AT&SF Railway for 13 years at Topeka, Kansas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, Continental Oil Company, for 6 years, at Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Houston, Texas, Skelly/Getty/Texaco Chemical Company for 11 years at Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Bellaire, Texas, and for the US Department of Agriculture for 13 years, at Kansas City, Missouri. Some of his accomplishments were an ICC Practitioner, an Associate Degree in Business Administration, Tulsa Junior College, and was in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 8 years. Willis was a member of the Broken Arrow Masonic Lodge, the Stillwater Frontier Lodge, Tulsa Scottish Rite, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Chevron Texaco Retirees Association, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Willis is survived by his loving wife, Mary; one (1) sister-in-law and brother-in-law; five (5) nieces and three (3) nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Mildred Harris; brother: Charles Harris Jr. and sister: Patricia (Harris) Stanton.
A memorial service will be held 12:30 PM, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 6500 South 129th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Phone: 918-252-2518.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John 3:16 Mission, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
