Wilma Jean Gentry's Obituary
Jean Gentry, age 89 of Mannford, departed from this life on Thrusday January 20, 2011 at her home in Mannford, Oklahoma with her loving family by her bedside. She was born on April 22, 1921 in Oklahoma City, and a year later adopted by Hernan J and Eva (Makey) Romine. Jean is survived by one daughter Tennie Ledbetter, Mannford, OK., Her sons Michael Gentry, Coweta, OK.,William Gentry, Prattville, OK., Joseph Gentry, Enid, OK. Eight grand-children: Rita Jean Bougher, Jena Wayland, Leslie Gentry, Rochelle Pierce, Jessi Gentry, Coleman Gentry, Sara Gentry, Benjamin Gentry. Seven great-grandchidren: Tiffany Bougher,Steffan Bougher, Amanda Wayland,Gavin Wayland, Makiah Looper, Presley Pierce, Coleman Gentry. Jean was preceded in Death by her parents, her husband Blu Gentry Jr., her sons Jack Gentry and Blu M. Gentry III. Jean was an amazing woman, with a legacy to be proud of. She attended school at Mt. Carmel Academy in Witchita Kansas, Graduated from Central High School, Tulsa OK in 1938. In 1944 she moved to Long Beach, CA., Worked for the U.S. Army Air Forces transport command as a parachute packer during the war. She returned to Oklahoma in 1948. Jean Married Bluford 'Blu' Gentry in 1951, they were married for 44 years. She received her training to become a registered nurse at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Where she continued to worked for over 40 years, when she retired in 1991. Jean loved to garden and enjoyed her flowers at her lake home she shared with her husband Blu. They bothloved to travel and took many trips all over the country. She always looked forward to every holiday when she was surrounded by those she loved most.
