Wilma Dean Hunnicutt's Obituary
Wilma Dean Webb Vanscoy Hunnicutt, 84 of Tulsa passed away November 7, 2020.
Wilma was born the second of 5 children in Gravette, Arkansas to Johnie and Edith Webb.
She graduated at the age of 16 from Decatur High School in Decatur, Arkansas and went on to attend the University of Tulsa where she would earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education. Wilma was also a member of the University of Tulsa women’s basketball team. After graduation, Wilma taught 2 years at Burroughs Elementary in Tulsa. She would then go on to accept a teaching position at Kendall Elementary where she taught 35 years until her retirement. She loved teaching and she loved her students. She enjoyed teaching all ages at the reading clinics at the University of Tulsa, but her true joy was always teaching at the elementary level.
As a long time member of Memorial Baptist Church, her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Wilma was also a bit of a prankster with her siblings and would often include her sons and nieces and nephews in her shenanigans.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Johnie and Edith Webb; Richard Hunnicutt, her husband of 47 years, and brothers John Wayne and Royce Webb.
Wilma is survived by her sister Betty Walden, brother Alvin Webb and wife Barbara. She was blessed with a large blended family which includes her son Doug Vanscoy and wife Lori, son Jeff Vanscoy, Brian and Angie Hunnicutt, Stephanie and Tim Adee, Brent Hunnicutt, 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
