Yvonne Price Brown's Obituary
Yvonne Brown was born May 1, 1924 in Buffalo, New York to James S. and Blanche (Burden) Price. She was the first of six girls to be born into the Price family. Yvonne attended local schools, graduating from Kenmore High School in 1942, the first of six Price girls to graduate from this school. After her graduation she was united in marriage to Robert C Leonard in Buffalo NY in 1944; to this union there are two children. Yvonne was a stay at home Mom for many years, eventually working part-time at JC Penny once the children were old enough to be in school.Upon moving to Florida in 1960, Yvonne entered the work force full time, eventually becoming Assistant Vice President of Southern Federal Savings and Loan. In 1965 Yvonne married William T Brown, gaining three stepsons. Yvonne and Bill worked hard and enjoyed travelling, golfing, square dancing and deep sea fishing. They continued these pursuits upon retirement to Barefoot Bay, FL in 1983. Yvonne was a faithful member of Barefoot Bay Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU, served as a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer. In her spare time, in addition to golfing, Yvonne enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing the organ and oil painting. She also loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in various activities ranging from sports to band concerts to riding horses. Yvonne loved dogs and was rarely without one for a pet throughout the years.In 1995, Yvonne moved to Oklahoma, where she continued to be active in church, as well as her various retirement pursuits. Yvonne married Harold Hudgeons in 2008, enjoying the last years of her life playing bingo, doing jigsaw puzzles and watching their favorite TV shows together.Yvonne went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 14, 2015 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 13 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Robert Leonard and Bill Brown, sister Louise Bernstein, and stepson David Brown. Yvonne is survived by her loving children Diane Hoyt of Winter Park, Florida and Bobby Leonard of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two stepsons Richard Brown of Alpharetta, Georgia; Bob Brown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; four sisters Shirley Lewis of Cheektowaga, New York; Mabel Coventry of West Seneca, New York; June Brubaker of Cheektowaga, New York; Nedra Clark of Charlotte, North Carolina; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 5 pm at the Tulsa International Baptist Church, 8707 E 19th St, Tulsa Oklahoma.
