Alan Terence Brian's Obituary
Alan Terence “Tip” Brian, 69 passed away @ 7:14 a.m. Wednesday morning 5 October 2016. Tip passed away due to complications from the effects of Mantel Cell Lymphoma he had been fighting since mid August. Tip was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Tip was born on 13 October 1946 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and grew up in Naples, Texas. He met Joan Gatlin at Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas, now Southern Arkansas State, where he played football. Tip and Joan were married in Shreveport, LA on 5 October 1968. He received a Masters Degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Geology from East Texas State University, now Texas A&M Commerce. Tip taught in the Daingerfield ISD for 7 years. After obtaining his Masters Degree in Geology, he went to work for Hinton Production Company of Mount Pleasant, Texas. Tip also became a licensed local pastor and served the New Boston area churches of Daniel’s Chapel and Red Bayou FUMC. In October 2002, Tip and his wife, Joan, moved to Tulsa, OK where Tip resumed his career as a Petroleum Geologist. While in Tulsa, Tip worked for Samson Resources and retired from Newfield Exploration 12 Aug 2016. Tip and Joan were residences of Ramona, OK and members of Abiding Harvest United Methodist Church, Broken Arrow, OK. Tip was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologist and held a Professional License in Geology. Tip loved his work, his hobbies of bee keeping, hunting, fishing, building furniture and watching Texas A&M football with his sons. Tip Brian was so much more than can ever be summarized in one paragraph. Tip, you will be sorely missed. We love you.He is survived by his mother Rebecca Russell Brian, Fairview, Tx; wife of 48 years, Joan Gatlin Brian, Ramona, OK; twin brother Alfred Thomas Brian and sister-in-law Sharon Brian, Allen, Tx; sister Carol Henry, Aubrey, Tx; sister Rebecca Pate and brother-in-law Jerry Pate, Fairview, Tx; son and daughter-in-law, and granddaughters, Clint & Leslie Brian, Savannah, Caroline & Georgia, Tulsa, OK; son and daughter-in-law, granddaughter & grandson, Clay & Megan Brian, Mia & Gavin, Orlando, FL; 3 nieces, 4 nephews, 6 grand nieces and 4 grand nephews.He is preceded in death by father A.T. Brian & grandson Carter Michael Brian.Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday 10 Oct at Abiding Harvest United Methodist Church, Broken Arrow, OK. A second service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday 11 Oct at First United Methodist Church, Naples, Tx. Burial will follow the Naples service at Spring Hill Cemetery, in the Rocky Branch community.In lieu of flowers, contributions to www.send-hope.org would be appreciated. Send-Hope is a charitable organization founded by his brother Tom Brian over 25 years ago in Honduras.
