Barbara Chandler's Obituary
Barbara Chandler, a resident of Tulsa, passed away June 2, 2017 at the age of 79. She was born February 2, 1938 to Bigler Jobe Stouffer and Joyce Jewel (Smedley-Evans) Stouffer in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was the eldest of five, Buddy, Gail, Nancy and Connie.Barbara attended John Ross Elementary School, Cleveland Junior High School, Alexander Graham Bell Junior High and she graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1956. On October 1958, Barbara met Sam Chandler and they were married on January 3, 1959 in Kansas City, Kansas.Although she began working as a teenager at various odd jobs to support her family, her career escalated in 1969 when she began working for Whitney Oil and Gas in Tulsa as an executive secretary for J.W.W. Whitney, Jr. She worked as an executive assistant at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma and retired from there in 2007.She was preceded in death by her parents, Bigler Jobe and Joyce Jewel Stouffer and grandson, Joshua Chandler.Barbara is survived by all of her siblings; her three children, Danny Chandler, Cristy Chandler, Dave Chandler and husband, Jeff; grandchildren: Kim and husband Justin, Sammy, Jacob and Taylor; great grand children: Oren and Dade.Barbara loved music, dancing, watching football, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.A Celebration of her Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Breast Cancer Action, bcaction.org.Friends may send their condolences to www.floralhaven.com
