Barney E. Barnes Jr.'s Obituary
Barney “Bud” E. Barnes, Jr., 78 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, September 3, 2021 in a Tulsa hospital with his family by his side. He was born July 14, 1943 in Houston, Texas to his parents, Barney E. Barnes and Margie McCormick Barnes.
Bud attended Tulsa Public Schools where he graduated from Edison High School in 1961. He attended the University of Kansas where he enrolled in the ROTC program which led to his love & passion for the military. In 1965 Bud joined the US Air Force, becoming a fighter pilot, flying the F4 aircraft in service of his country in Southeast Asia. He rose to the rank of Captain and was honorably discharged in 1973. Bud was an owner/operator of The Bistro's of Tulsa restaurants. Bud loved all things food, music and sports, but his main love were his 4 kids and 5 grandsons. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories and laughter. No one could cheer louder than Bud when he was watching his Dallas Cowboys or St. Louis Cardinals. However, he was most excited watching his grandsons perform in a school play or compete in sports or other activities. His enthusiasm and support of his family was exceeded only by his enormous pride in their accomplishments, both big and small. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will always be there comforting those fortunate enough to call him friend, Grandpa or Dad.
Bud is survived by four children, Trey Barnes and his wife Cindy of Leawood, Kansas, Tammy Been and her husband Brian of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tim Barnes of Tulsa, Oklahoma and TJ Barnes and wife Whitney of Overland Park, Kansas; five grandsons, Beau Barnes, Blake Barnes, Carson Been, Griffin Been and Remy Barnes; sister in law Becky Barnes, several nieces and a host of friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney E. Barnes and Margie McCormick Barnes and his brother, Jim Barnes.
