Dodwell Jr., Benjamin Walter's Obituary
Benjamin Walter Dodwell Jr., 82, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Born on January 31, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, Benjamin was the beloved son of Benjamin Walter Dodwell Sr. and Eleanor (Jehle) Dodwell.
An Army veteran, Ben served honorably in Vietnam as a Specialist Fourth Class (SP4). During his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.
He married the love of his life, Sally (Krieg) Dodwell, on October 4, 1969, and together they shared a faithful and loving marriage until her passing. Ben lived in both Malverne, New York and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and wherever he lived, he left a lasting impact.
Ben had a long and meaningful career in finance, where he also used his administrative gifts to support various ministries and outreaches. He was deeply committed to serving God and others, living out his faith with integrity, purpose, and humility. His dedication extended to his involvement in support communities, including AA and Overcomers Outreach, where he encouraged others with his testimony and steadfast presence.
A man of quick wit and dry humor, Ben was known for his colorful Yiddish expressions, often delivered with perfect timing and a twinkle in his eye. He was a generous man—offering his time, wisdom, and heart freely. He loved people deeply and found great joy in helping others.
Ben also had a deep love for music. He found comfort and expression in playing the organ and piano, often filling his home with melodies that reflected his spirit and soul.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Sally. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Zirkle and her husband Daniel; his son, Matthew Dodwell and his wife Kerrie; and his grandchildren, Taylor Zirkle, Madison Reece and her husband Tyler, and Austin Dodwell. He was blessed to welcome a great-grandchild, Oakley Reece, into the world.
Ben also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Karen Hall; nephews David Hall (Debra), Scott Hall (Barbie), and Greg Hall (Joy); and cousins Charlene Callahan, Adele Purvis, and Allan Germain. He will be remembered fondly by many extended family members, friends, and those he served throughout his life.
Benjamin’s legacy is one of service, humor, faith, and compassion. He was a man who lived to bless others, and his impact will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
