Betty Lou George's Obituary
Betty Lou George, a beloved resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on October 2, 2023, at the age of 87. She was born on November 29, 1935, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and would later spend her post-retirement in Tulsa.
Betty Lou was a proud alumna of Daniel Webster High School in Tulsa, where she laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and community engagement. Her passion for the medical field led her to become a dedicated Phlebotomist, where she touched the lives of countless patients with her gentle and caring demeanor. During her forty-year career, she worked in hospital laboratories throughout Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, and Oklahoma.
One of Betty Lou's greatest joys in life was traveling, and she embraced every opportunity to explore new places and cultures. Her adventures took her as far as China, where she marveled at the beauty of the Great Wall and the rich history of the Forbidden City.
At home, Betty Lou's green thumb was evident in her beautiful flower garden, which bloomed with vibrant colors year after year. She had an impeccable taste for antiques and was a skilled collector, curating a home filled with unique treasures that told stories of times gone by.
Betty Lou's warm and outgoing personality made her a beloved presence in the lives of her family and close friends. She had an uncanny ability to brighten any room with her infectious laughter and engaging conversations. Her heart was always open, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
Betty Lou George leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but her memory will continue to bring joy to those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Betty Lou was preceded in passing by her parents, Roy Wellhousen, and Myrtle Turley (Gray); her husband, William E. George; her son, Stephen L. Smith, and her brother, Wayne L. Wellhousen.
She is survived by her, son, Jack L. Smith of Grove, OK; son, John M. Smith Kansas City, MO; son, Jeffrey Smith of Pittsburg, KS; son, Roger Smith, and his wife, Kim, of Pittsburg, KS; her grandchildren, Christina Oats of Sand Springs, OK, Michelle Smith of Sand Springs, OK; and Tricia Smith of Sand Springs, OK; her cousin, Debbie Miller of Tulsa, OK; her niece, Rhae Thornton and her husband Shawn of Owasso, OK; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
Graveside Service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at Floral Haven Garden of Good Shepherd
