Billie P. Snow's Obituary
Billie Henson Snow To know her was to love her… Billie Henson Snow was born on the 15th of August 1937 in Tulsa Oklahoma to Orville and Mildred Henson. The Poet once wrote “May you live in interesting times”. Billie Snow not only lived in those “interesting” times; in many ways she defined those times. She was born in the darkest days of the Great Depression and the hardships of World War II dominated her early childhood. She graduated high school, got married and had her first child, Daniel, wrapped in the innocent optimism of the 1950s. She traveled the world throughout the 60s and 70s with her husband Martin, as they completed a 20-year Air Force Career side by side. She raised her family on multiple Air Force Bases across the United States and Europe. She delivered her second child, Linda, in Germany as the Berlin Wall was being built only miles away. Her third child, Troy, was born in North Dakota before the family moved again for a four-year tour in southern England. When her husband Martin retired from the USAF in 1975, they settled the family in Tulsa, a mere two miles from the house where she was born. They bought a house in Berryhill and lived in the same house for 41 years. In that time, she embarked on a successful career as a Senior executive assistant at Unit Rig/Terrex corporation. Daniel and Linda both married and each gave Billie and Duke 3 beautiful Granddaughters. She and Martin lived life to the fullest; they spent years enjoying their boat at Lake Keystone with their children and grandchildren. They also loved to Square dance as members the Friendly 8 square dancing club. They loved to travel all over the United States in their convertible visiting family and national points of interest. Not long after her retirement from Unit Rig, her youngest son Troy married and started a family. Troy gave her 4 grandchildren, 3 sons and one daughter. At an age when others might be enjoying a porch bound rocking chair, Billie insisted that Duke buy a Honda Trike. With the purchase of their Honda Trike, they became 70-something bikers. As part of this new chapter of their lives, they rode the Florida Keys, rode to Washington DC for the Memorial Day Run to the Wall and attended the Sturgis Bike Rally three times. At every stage of Billie’s life, Duke was by her side, and they lived life to its fullest. Always a Lady, a professional woman and a dutiful wife and mother. Billie could do it all. She was a perfect example of what a strong, independent woman could be. She was a woman of her time. She was a woman for the ages. She was equally at home in work clothes; cleaning, baking or cooking for her family or in business attire at the office or an evening gown at a formal function with the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a loving matriarch for her family including 3 children, 10 Grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Granddaughter Tresa. She is survived by her husband Martin (Duke) Snow, her children Dan, Linda and Troy; her grandchildren, Christina, Danielle, Gennifer, Llyssa, Brittany, William, Jacob, Nicholas and Elizabeth; her siblings; Charles Henson, Wayne Henson, Bobby Henson, Robby Henson and Ricky and Randy Henson. She was a member of the Combat Veteran’s Motorcycle Association Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Friendly 8 Square Dancing Club. Funeral Services will be 3:00 pm Friday, October 14, 2016, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, October 13, 2016, Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
