B.L. Oats Jr.'s Obituary
B.L. Oats, Jr. of Broken Arrow passed peacefully at home on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the age of 69. He was born August 23, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.L. Oats, Sr. and Joyce Studebaker Oats. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Oats of the home, his daughter Carisa Smith of Jenks and her husband Chad, and their children Ella, Harison, and Crosley, his son Jason Oats of Broken Arrow, and sister Sara Oats Johnson of Greenfield, Indiana, as well as nieces, nephews, family members and friends across the country.B.L. graduated from Vinita High School, proudly served in the United States Navy for four years on the U.S.S. Garcia, and then graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Design from Oklahoma State University. He retired after 20 years from Mingo Manufacturing, Inc. in Owasso in May 2016. He was a member of The Church at Battle Creek in Broken Arrow.Honorary Pallbearers include Jason Oats, Chad Smith, Ray Witten, Joe Hall, Don Witten, Lewis Schell, and Terry Ingle.Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, June 23 at Floral Haven Chapel in Broken Arrow.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project or another military or veterans organization.
