Brandon Lee Mathis' Obituary
Brandon Mathis, age 49, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed to his eternal home on January 9, 2026, following a motorcycle accident. Born on October 20, 1976, in Norman, Oklahoma, Brandon lived life at full speed and with an open heart.
Known affectionately by many nicknames throughout his life — Brother Pig as a child (earned when he once told his mother that “the dirt just jumped on him”), Brando, and Boo (his mom’s special name for him) — Brandon was truly one of a kind. He never met a stranger, could make anyone laugh, and carried a positive outlook on life, at least most of the time.
Brandon was the beloved son of Brent and Zelma Mathis. He attended Norman Public Schools from kindergarten through graduation, graduating from Norman High School in 1994. A dedicated and bright student, Brandon was an honor student in both middle and high school. He later attended the University of Tulsa.
From a young age, Brandon was known for his strong work ethic. He began working summer jobs at Hibdon Tires at just 16 years old, later earning Employee of the Month. While attending college, he also worked for Mazzio’s Pizza in Tulsa. His career in the tire industry took him to Edmond, Oklahoma, where he began working for Big O Tires and eventually became a Store Manager. After relocating to Tulsa, Brandon continued his career with Robertson Tires, later Big Brand Tires, where he was serving as Store Manager in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the time of his passing.
Brandon made his home in Norman, Edmond, Tulsa, and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Wherever he lived, he built friendships easily and left lasting impressions.
On November 19, 2021, Brandon married the love of his life, Lisa Welles Mathis, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together they shared laughter, adventure, and deep love. Brandon was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Mathis; his daughters Chloe, Addison, and Gracie; and his cherished granddaughter Ivy, who is three months old.
He is also survived by his parents, Brent and Zelma Mathis; his brother Jeremy Mathis and wife Tiffany; his aunts Earnestine Turner and Celia Mendietta and husband Junior; his nephews Darren Mathis, Jacob Mathis, and Joshua Mathis; and his first cousins La Quita Gardner, Dean Turner, Wesley Turner, Keisha Serna, Rebecca Mireles, Mike Slaten, Steve Slaten, Pete Mendietta, Bebo Mendietta, along with many extended cousins and loved ones.
Brandon was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, E.R. and Lois Waggoner and Cecil and Janet Mathis.
In his free time, Brandon lived for adventure. He loved being at the lake, playing golf — especially with his dad — and playing disc golf with his brother Jeremy. He enjoyed cooking on the grill, riding his motorcycle, and all water sports. In true Brandon fashion, he even bought a wetsuit so he could jet ski in the winter. Every day, he made it a point to ask Lisa and others, “What was the best part of your day?” and no conversation with Brandon was complete without hearing the words “PREMIUM” and “HOODALADOL.”
Brandon lived life with no fear, always up for the next adventure, always ready to connect with people, and deeply devoted to his family and friends. Most importantly, he was a baptized believer in God, and his faith guided his life.
