Carl Walton Sutterfield's Obituary
Carl W. Sutterfield, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2012. Carl is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. and his children, Roger Sutterfield and Judith Bowers. He has 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Carl was born on July 29, 1923 in Searcy, Arkansas. At age 19 Carl landed on Normandy Beach on the second day of the invasion in World War II. He was in the 79th Infantry which was considered as one of the best attack divisions in the U.S. Army. While serving Carl earned a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle. He also received four bronze stars. He was one of the few who survived in 79th Infantry of WWII. He was a local businessman and ran a service station for years. Carl was known for his love of the outdoors and people. He loved to fish and always had a garden full of flowers. He enjoyed his friends and loved playing cards, dominoes, and attending horse races with them. He was always ready to share a laugh with a neighbor, friend, or grandchild. His family and his many friends will miss him. “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Funeral Services will be held 12:30 PM Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
