In Loving Memory of Carolyn Sue King
Carolyn Sue King, age 82, of Broken Arrow, OK died on Sunday October 15, 2023. Sue suffered from vascular dementia for the last several years and finally found peace while surrounded with love by her granddaughter and grandson.
Sue was born in Ketchum, OK in 1941 to Arthur Clyde Cloud and Lucy Eleanor Frazier, and was the eldest of 4 siblings. She met her high school sweetheart, Donald Ray King Sr., at Permian High School in Odessa, TX and they were married soon after graduation in 1960. Sue and Don had three sons, Donald Ray King Jr., Arthur Kent King, and Michael Kevin King.
Sue achieved remarkable accomplishments in her life, both in her family and profession. Sue King, CPMSM, CPHQ, CPCS had a substantial career of over 35 years in Medical Staff Services and Hospital Administration. During her tenure, she excelled in her role as Administrative Director of Clinical Resource Management and then Medical Staff Affairs at Hillcrest Medical Center and St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK and Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, CA. Sue was an instructor and on the advisory board for Medical Staff Service Sciences at Cypress College, CA. She was the first and only full-time National Director of Education & Seminar Faculty for Education Programs. She was a board member, President, and Honorary Member of the Oklahoma Association MSS. Sue was also NAMSS Faculty for over 22 years, participating in the development of program content and materials and teaching all NAMSS programs with a specialty in certification preparation courses.
Moreover, Sue was on the NAMSS Board of Directors for seven years, and was on the Chair Bylaws Committee, Great Lakes Region Representative, Chair of Education Council, President-Elect, President (1987), and Past President. She was inducted into the NAMSS Hall of Fame on October 24, 2017. After retirement, she built her own consulting business where she continued to dedicate her time and expertise to helping others.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and all three of her sons. She was also preceded in death by her two younger brothers, Curtis Michael Cloud Sr. and William Randell Cloud.
She was survived by her two grandchildren, Callie Kathryn King of St. Petersburg, FL and Kyle Connor King of Oklahoma City, OK, as well as her younger sister, Ruth Ellen Wiggs of Sapulpa, OK. Sue also has a loving extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great grandnieces whom will miss her dearly.
A funeral service to honor the life of Sue will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, located at 6500 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. Interment will follow immediately after conclusion of the chapel service at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Devotion at 1:45 PM.
Once services conclude, the family warmly extends an invitation to anyone wishing to attend a gathering and reception for Sue from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM in the event room at AVB Bank: 322 S Main St, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. Refreshments will be provided as family and friends continue to share stories and celebrate the life of Sue.

Any other florists may deliver flowers directly to Floral Haven Funeral Home by 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in order for them to be set out and displayed for Sue’s service.
