Carrol Wayne Nees' Obituary
Carrol Wayne Nees, 74, of Broken Arrow, passed away March 24, 2021. He was born on April 20, 1946 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Carroll and Mary Nees. After joining the United States Army in 1963, Wayne served three tours in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his sacrifice, bravery and honor while serving his country.
After active duty, he joined the Army Nat’l Guard Reserves and became a Tulsa Police Officer in 1973 while concurrently earning a Associates degree from TCU. Wayne spent 10 years serving the City of Tulsa before he chose to return to his first love, the United States Army. Wayne retired as a highly decorated Master Sergeant on August 31st of 1994.
After retirement, he began working for the security company Wackenhut before beginning an 8 year career in contract security for military bases in Bosnia and Kuwait.
Wayne was a leader in every aspect of his life. He had a quiet strength about him. His presence was comforting. His confidence was calming. He was such a wise man with a unquenchable thirst for knowledge. His experiences in life taught him that nothing meant more than family. He often used those experiences to teach invaluable lessons to his children and grandchildren. He accepted people as they were. He was proud of people’s accomplishments and didn’t judge them by their failures. He lived a full life and touched the lives of so many along the way. These are just a few of the things we loved about this great man.
Wayne dedicated his life to serving his family, his country, and his community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and Brother-in-arms, Jerry Paschall. Wayne is survived by his adoring wife and absolute love, Kimberlie; Three sons Brandon Nees, Michael Bilby, David Nees; Three daughters Jennifer Nees, Michelle Bilby, Jennifer Rose Nees; Four grandchildren Cameron, Alexandra, Colten, Macie; Two sisters Hope Cox, Chaunette Bilby; one brother Joseph Bilby.
