Charles Thomas Russell's Obituary
Charles Thomas Russell 02/10/1924-04/14/2012 Born to Thomas and Ora Russell on February 10 1924 in Billings Montana. He grew up there with 3 sisters Velma, Marie and Ruthy in a very rural area where he farmed with his family. He enlisted in the service and was deployed to Germany in WWII at the young age of 17. When he came home from the war he came to Oklahoma where he met Helen May Cowan and married her on October 14 1946. They were blessed with 2 wonderful sons, John and Jim. He worked and retired from Southwestern Bell. After he retired he stayed busy with spending time with his family and telling his stories of when he was growing up, and of the war to his kids and grandchildren and taking care of his home in Coweta, Oklahoma. He loved to read western novels, hunt with the guys when he could, planting and tending to his vegetable garden and blueberry bushes every year, canning and trying out different recipes and if you were one of the lucky ones to come to visit he would make you the most mouth watering blueberry pie you ever tasted. He was a member of the Rainbow Division that met once a month for breakfast. Charles was preceded in death by both of his sons, John Thomas Russell and James Stanley Russell Sr, a grandson Derek Allen Russell and a great grandson Cameron Elijah Russell. He has left behind his wife of the home, Helen May Russell of Coweta, Oklahoma, his sisters and their husbands all from Montana, his grandchildren Lindsay Russell Hayes and her husband Shannon Hayes of Coweta, Okla., James Russell Jr. of Spokane Washington, Joshua Russell and his wife Jessie Russell of Broken Arrow, Okla., Danielle Higgins Russell of Tahlequah, Okla. Several Great grandchildren Jaden, Hunter, Devon, Logan, Allison, Ember, Tiara, Joe, Gavon, Arionna and Darian. He was a GREAT MAN and an even better HUSBAND, DAD and PAPA. He will be missed by all of his family and friends very much.
