Chris Hoornstra's Obituary
Chris Hoornstra, 90 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at his residence with family by his side. He was born May 26, 1930 in Rotterdam, Holland to his parents, Jacob Josef Hoornstra and Johanna Maria Hendrix Hoornstra. He married the love of his life, Hazel Nix on May 17, 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and they shared in over 62 wonderful years together before her passing just two days prior to his.
Chris and his wife Hazel were very active in their church, Skelly Drive Baptist Church for many, many years. He also loved to read and even worked for the Tulsa City County Library for ten years after his retirement.
Chris is survived by his two Children, Pam Hughes and her husband Billy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Paul Dickerson and his wife Trudy of Jenks, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Jamie Rivers and her husband Louis of Shreveport, Louisiana, Lennon Dickerson of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Molly Hughes of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carly Hughes of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, BJ Ernst of Jenks, Oklahoma and Isaac Ernst of Jenks, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Daisy, Sage and Blaze Rivers all of Shreveport, Louisiana; one brother, William Hoornstra of Lakewood, Texas; and one niece, Karin Robinson of Lakewood, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Johanna Hoornstra; his wife Hazel Hoornstra; and one son, James Dickerson.
A celebration of life service for both Chris and Hazel will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Skelly Drive Baptist Church, 8504 E Skelly Dr., Tulsa, OK 74129.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Oklahoma Chapter, 2448 E 81st St #3000, Tulsa, OK 74137.
