Clara Mae Williams' Obituary
Clara Mae (Lee) Williams (1919~2017)Mrs. Clara Mae (Lee) Williams, age 98, went peacefully home to be with her Lord on December 19, 2017. She lived in Tulsa, OK for the past four years to be near family. Mrs. Williams was born in Carnes Community in Forest County, MS on April 6, 1919, daughter of E.R. and Edna (Jones) Lee. She graduated from Central High School in Jackson, MS in 1936, and from Blue Mountain College in 1940 where she received a full academic scholarship. She married Walton Williams in Jackson , MS where the family lived several yars, before moving to Ackerman, MS in 1943 to be near his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Williams.Miss Clara, as she was affectionately called in her later years, was a faithful member of the Ackerman Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 25 years until she turned 90, and was a 50-year member of the Ackerman Twentieth Century Club. She taught English and Spanish at Ackerman High School, 1970-71. Miss Clara had a loving, giving heart for others, and was devoted to her family, community and church. She enjoyed writing social news for the local newspapers for many years, gathering information of interest in the lives of the community.Miss Clara is survived by her three daughters, Joy (Cecil) Carter of Bartlesville, OK., Lona (Robert) Heath of Birchwood, WI, and Faye Henson of Austin, TX. She was a beloved grandmother of six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband, Walton L. Williams, Sr., and son, Walton Leroy Williams, Jr (Little Roy).A Memorial Service will be held for Mrs. Williams at 12:30 PM, Saturday, December 23rd, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be officiated by Reverend John Taylor.
