Cleve Dewayne Brewer's Obituary
Cleve Dewayne Brewer passed from earth to heaven on January 27, 2016, after a long, valiant battle with cancer. He was born May 5, 1944, to Cleve and Nena Brewer in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. They and his sister, Sandra, predeceased him. Dewayne attended Tulsa Public Schools and graduated from McLain High school in 1962. He graduated from Northeastern State University with a BS in math and history and a Masters in guidance and counseling. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1968 – 1970. Dewayne’s forty-year teaching career was spent teaching math in the Tulsa Public Schools, the Interim Program, and Adult Education GED preparation. Dewayne is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years Jessie, his loving daughter Brittany, and his grandchildren, Grace,, Brody, and Elizabeth, the joys of his life. Also, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janie and Jay Mitchell and their son Matthew. In addition, he is survived by his brother Tom and his wife Ellen, and his brother Ronnie and his wife Allyn, as well as nieces, Shelly and Emily, and nephews, Brian, Kelsey, Kyle, and Ryan. Dewayne was a member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. He loved his God and knew he was going to be welcomed into heaven. The family is grateful to Dr. John Lohrey, Dr. Kevin Weibel, Dr. John King, all nurses at Tulsa Cancer Institute, and the caring staff of St. Francis Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016, at Floral Haven Chapel, Broken Arrow, OK. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Dewayne’s name to Autism Speaks or the American Cancer Society.
