Constance "Connie" Moore's Obituary
Constance Moore, affectionately known to all as Connie, passed from this life and entered Heaven’s gates on July 2, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. She was born on January 22, 1943, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, Connie was the beloved daughter of Donald Clark Howard and Arzetta May (Brown) Howard. Her early years were spent traveling across the United States with her family, who worked in the pipelining industry. These experiences shaped her into a woman of resilience, adaptability, and grace.
Connie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed being able to observe others and her environment instead of being the main attraction. She had a deep love for gardening and quilting—two passions that brought beauty and comfort to those around her. Her green thumb was legendary; her gardens, especially her peonies, irises, and daffodils, were admired by all who saw them. Many said her blooms were worthy of magazine covers.
As a quilter, Connie’s talent was unmatched. She poured her heart into every stitch, creating treasured heirlooms for her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her generosity knew no bounds—when her daughter-in-law’s mother passed, Connie lovingly crafted quilts from her clothing, offering warmth and remembrance to the grieving family.
On May 5, 1975, Connie married the love of her life, Jimmy “Joe” Moore. Together, they built a beautiful life in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they raised their family and created a legacy of love and faith. Connie dedicated over 30 years of service to the Social Security Administration before retiring to the Flint Ridge Community near Little Kansas, Oklahoma. She cherished her time there, especially the fellowship she found at the Flint Ridge Chapel and the warming words by their pastor.
In her later years, Connie and Joe moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma, to be closer to their son and his family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She shared her love through stories, laughter, and even teaching her great-grandson how to make her famous green bean casserole—a tradition he will proudly carry on.
In the past 9 months, Connie was in a more vulnerable state and needed additional help throughout her days. Her son Evan stepped up to this position without a blink or a second thought. Evan was there morning, day, and night for Connie and Joe as well, to help them with anything they needed and to also make sure Connie and Joe could still spend time together. Even though times would get difficult, Evan never faltered in his care towards his parents. He wanted to make sure that anyone or anything that came into Connies’ life was of good intentions. He cared for her in ways that only most can hope they will have.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Arzetta Howard; daughter Laura Howard; brother Donald Dennis Howard; and brother-in-law Doug Smith. She was survived by her husband Joe Moore of the home; son Evan Howard and wife Lu of Sperry, Oklahoma; grandchildren Emily Baker and husband Ryan of Owasso, Oklahoma, Katherine Sue Howard of Nairobi, Kenya, and Micah Moore of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Great grandchildren Lydia Muecke, Ty Muecke, and Si Baker; sister Susan Smith of Lakeland, Florida; son Matt Moore of Tupelo, Mississippi; along with many treasured cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
A visitation to come and pay respects to Connie will be held on Thursday, July 10th, 2025 at Floral Haven Funeral Home from 4PM – 7PM. A celebration of Connies life will be held on Friday, July 11th, 2025 at 12:30PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in the Veterans Field of Honor. Pastor Melvin Newland will be officiating.
