Our Uncle Curt and Aunt Cathy were such a loving and nurturing support to all of us when we were growing up. I remember visiting with Uncle Curt at family reunions when he would talk at length about his radios and all his hobbies. Like all the Lutz men, Curt had a beautiful singing voice and we were often treated to a couple of hymns or songs sung by our four Uncles and our Dad, Fred, with their sister, Paulie, on the piano.
One fun story about Curt happened in the 90’s when an older friend of ours who attended our church was giving away her husband’s electron tube testers. Her husband had owned drug stores where the tube testers had been installed. We contacted Curt to see if he was interested and he was very excited. My husband, Scott, remembers Uncle Curt “burned up the road between us and him” to drive and get them. (We live in Colorado and they lived in Broken Arrow.) He sure loved his older radio club and that hobby.
We will miss Uncle Curt and his zest for life and family. He was always so proud of his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Recently we came across some old poems my Mom, Shirley, cut out from the newspaper. I think this one is very apropos for our grief at the loss of a great human, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle.
