Dale Warren Greiner's Obituary
Dale Warren Greiner, 75, died Tuesday January 10, 2017 at Clarehouse in Tulsa,OK following a 10 year journey with Alzheimer’s disease. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Baker) Greiner; his daughter, Allison (Greiner) and her husband David Redick of Broken Arrow, OK, granddaughters Grace and Sarah Redick of the home, grandsons Nathan Redick and his wife Krystal of Charlotte, NC, and Kaleb Redick of Edmond, OK; his sister Joyce (Greiner) and husband Paul O’Hern of Shreveport, LA; brother Neal Greiner of Lafayette, LA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Andrea, brother Keith Greiner, and parents Lois and Wendell Greiner. Raised in Mulvane, KS, he spent early years with his family delivering newspapers, playing music and various sports. He attended Emporia State University on a football scholarship where he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in biology. After meeting his wife Barbara, he then attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, earning an additional master’s degree in zoology, studying loons in the arctic. He was a teacher for over 30 years. First at ESU and U of M as a graduate assistant, and then a high school science teacher at both Ann Arbor Pioneer and Huron. He was a tennis coach and player, an environmentalist and avid recycler, a gardener, a pilot of small aircraft, and could fix or build most anything. He was kind, caring, friendly and could keep you talking for hours about everything. A memorial service will be held on January 21, at 11 am at First United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. Final internment will occur in July 2017 at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor, MI. His legacy will include his dedication in life and death, to Alzheimer’s research to find a cure.
