Daniel J. Curzon's Obituary
Daniel Joseph Curzon of Broken Arrow, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the age of 80.He was born in Washington, DC on June 27, 1933, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Curzon.Upon graduation from the University of Maryland in 1955, Mr. Curzon proudly served our country in the United States Air Force as a pilot for over 23 years. After numerous assignments around the globe, Mr. Curzon ended his military career at Offutt Air Force Base as a member of the 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, piloting the RC-135. His many years of honorable service were highlighted by multiple tours of duty in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.Among his numerous accomplishments, he commanded the aircraft responsible for acquiring the radar frequencies necessary to develop countermeasures designed to defeat one of the most feared Soviet era surface to air missiles deployed around the world during the Cold War. Lieutenant Colonel Daniel J. Curzon received an honorable discharge and formally retired from military service on June 30th, 1979.Following his esteemed career in the military, he moved to Tulsa, OK where he worked as a pilot at McDonnell Douglas for over ten years. Daniel’s unit worked to improve combat readiness for the United States Navy throughout his tenure.Lt. Colonel Curzon (USAF-Retired) is survived by his loving wife, Linda Curzon and seven children.Mourning his loss will be Penny Diane Shaw, and her husband, Stuart, of Wichita, Kansas, Christopher Curzon, and his wife, Charlene, of Bennington, Nebraska, , Walter Jay Kleine, Jr., of Austin, Texas, Kimberly Ann Smith, and her husband, Chuck, of Mansfield, Texas, Kevin Scott Kleine, of Plano, Texas, Christopher Michael Kleine, and his wife, Shelly, of Tulsa, and Heather Allison Kleine, of Sand Springs. Daniel was also blessed with 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Numerous other family members and friends will also miss him greatly.He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Patricia Curzon.Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
