I had a message last night that Dave had passed from my old Team Sergeant and Sergeant Major. I met Dave in the early 1980's when he first transitioned to Special Forces. I was his first team leader on ODA-311 12 SFG. He was a young officer and was excited to start his Special Forces Career. Although I have not seen or spoke to Dave in over 40 years we lost contact. I remember him telling me in the beginning he wanted to go to HALO School after the Special Forces Course so it does not surprise me how proud he was to become a HALO Jump Master a significant accomplishment. I also remember that he was born the same year as me. Both of us were young military officers at the time and often talked about the future and what we wanted to accomplish in life. His attitude as a young officer was excellent, the enlisted Special Forces warriors loved him, he was an officer the enlisted soldiers respected. Over the years I would hear about his career in the military and how well he did. He was known as a great American who served his country well. To Barbara and his children your husband and father was someone who had an impact on so may peoples lives. Even over 40 years later I can recall his enthusiasm, dedication, and amazing ability to lead in such challenging environments. He lived the Special Force Creed to Free the Oppressed. He lived and served with distinction and I am sure he loved each of you even more than you may realize. God Bless him and your family.

I have only known Dave for the last couple of years when visiting Tulsa. Golfing with Dave was always a pleasure, he would always meet you with a smile and was supportive when the shots didn’t go your way (which was often in my case).
He kindly took us to the gun range for a day of shooting some of his arsenal.
Although I only knew Dave a short time, he made a lasting impression on me. He will be fondly remembered.
Dave was truly “One of the good Buggers”
Good bugger is a term of endearment and respect in New Zealand for a genuinely good person who is generous, helpful, and kind.
RIP Dave (Mate)
