David Allen Poczynek, age 69, passed away surrounded by all his immediate family on September 13, 2025, at Ascension St. John Hospital in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born on April 17, 1956, in Wilmington, Delaware to Anthony and Helen Poczynek. David enlisted in the United States Army at 17 and served for over 25 years, retiring at the rank of Major after a career deploying with multiple Special Forces detachments, often as company commander and team leader. He achieved HALO Jumpmaster status, an accomplishment he was deeply proud of. He was happily married to his loving wife, Barbara, for 42 wonderful years. After retiring from military service, David transitioned to the private sector, working at ARAMCO in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and eventually retiring as Chief Information Security Officer at Bank of Oklahoma in Tulsa in 2022. Dave was known for his unwavering dedication to his family, passion for golf, and penchant for thrill-seeking, from skydiving to scuba diving to cross-country motorcycle trips. David is survived by his wife Barbara; sons Matthew, Taylor, and Nicholas; daughter Annie; daughters-in-law Jessica and Alexandra; grandchildren Anthony, Mia, and Mai’lana; and brothers Donald, Daniel, and Douglas. A service with military honors will be held in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at Floral Haven Funeral Home on Friday, September 26th, 2025, at 12:30 PM for family and friends to celebrate his life. Military honors will be conducted at the conclusion of the service.
