David Earl Secrist's Obituary
David Earl Secrist was born in Prairie Grove, AR, in 1938 to Orval and Mabel Secrist. The family moved to Tulsa where Earl graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1957. It was there that he met the love of his life, Dolores. They married in 1959 and Earl joined the Tulsa Police Department in 1960. He retired 30 years later as Deputy Chief. Despite all of the accomplishments in Earl’s life, he was most proud of his 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. And they adored him. Earl fought a brave and faith filled battle with cancer for the past 11 years, never losing his positive attitude and gratitude for each and every day. He was an amazing caregiver for his beloved Dolores as she battled her own cancer. He finally won his battle on May 5, 2014 when he left cancer and pain behind and joined Dolores in eternity. Earl is survived by his children and their families: Mark Secrist and his wife, Cheryl, and children Megan, Jaret, Mason, Walker, Morgan and granddaughter Makina; Mike Secrist and his wife, Gina, and sons Joshua, Jordan and Joseph; Melanie Walenciak, her husband, Jim, and sons Cody and Dillon. He is also survived by his brothers, Edward Secrist and Jim Secrist both of Moore, OK. Services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 9th,, at Eastwood Baptist Church in Tulsa. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tulsa Police Officers’ Memorial, PO Box 690882, Tulsa, OK 74169 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me…. II Timothy 4:7,8
