Delphine Verna Jones' Obituary
Heaven gained a very special angel on February 15, 2013 at 7:50pm when our precious, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt passed from this earth. She will be deeply missed and always remembered for everything she was, all she gave and everything she taught us. She was our angel here on earth for all the days we were blessed to have her and we will keep all the sweet memories in our hearts forever. Delphine was born April 6, 1922 in Muskogee, OK where she grew up, graduated from high school and met the love of her life, Melba Jones. Melba and Delphine were married on January 17, 1942. They had 5 children together, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. After 71 years of marriage they were still deeply in love and still the best example of love and devotion. During World War II, Delphine worked at Camp Gruber in Braggs, OK as a Civil Service employee. She loved her work at Camp Gruber and would always talk about the day she learned Melba was returning to Camp Gruber and the fact that she found out even before he did since he was on a train unaware of his destination at the time. Delphine was a devoted Christian and enjoyed being at Church as well as working for the Church. She worked as a Church Secretary for over 20 years; even volunteering her work to the Church when she was older. She loved the Lord and her family above all else in this world.
