Dency Henley's Obituary
Dency Henley, 95, went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2011 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born on January 23, 1916 in Stillwell, OK to Lorenzo Dowell Henley and Viola Mae Peters. His sister Lois Pickett preceded him in death. Dency graduated from Foyil High School and Tulsa Business College. He served in the U.S. Navy managing a recruiting office in Stillwater. Dency was President and co-owner of McVay-Henley Food Brokerage in Oklahoma City, one of the largest food brokerage companies in the Midwest representing 21 national food manufacturers including Campbell Soup and Welch's Grape Juice. While in Oklahoma City, Dency served as President of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and was active in lay leadership roles and the choir at Crown Heights Christian Church for over 20 years. Dency talked to the Good Lord every day and was a wonderful Christian influence on his family. He loved leading family prayers. He enjoyed playing his guitar and sang The Lord's Prayer at many family weddings and special events. Dency was an avid fisherman, golfer and loved playing the guitar. He loved making people laugh and shared jokes with everyone. Dency's three favorite things in life were The Lord, his family and lemon meringue pie. Dency and Nadine Louise Jacobs were married in 1937 at The First United Methodist Church in Chelsea, OK. They were married for 65 years before Louise's passing in 2002. In 2007 Dency was reunited with his Foyil High School classmate Lorene Ohara . Dency and Lorene were married in February 2007 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Lorene's close friend in high school was Dency's sister, Lois. Dency was good friends with Lorene's husband, Roy, who preceded her in death in 2006. Dency is survived by his wife, Lorene. His daughter, Connie Leech Vaughn and husband Jerry of Kansas City, Missouri. His grandson Chris Leech and wife Kristin of Glendale, Arizona. Granddaughter Jennifer Matson and husband Eric of Parkville, Missouri. Three great-grandchildren ' Henley Marie Leech, Hannah Kathleen Matson and Hunter James Matson. Nieces, nephews and many cousins are among Dency's cherished family. Visitation for Dency will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2nd at Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 S. 129th E. Ave, Broken Arrow, OK. Phone: 918-252-2518. Funeral services for Dency will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 3 at Floral Haven.
