Don El Roi Dodds' Obituary
Don El Roi Dodds of Jenks, OK passed away on July 11, 2021, at the age of 89.
Don El was born in Cushing, OK to Earl and Helen Dodds on October 5, 1931. He attended Jenks High School and graduated in 1949. He then attended Oklahoma A&M and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Margaret Heller on October 31, 1953. He worked as a mechanical engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers for most of his career. During his time with the Corps, he was involved with many projects, including the construction of the McClellan/Kerr navigation system of the Arkansas River. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. His hobbies included tinkering with electronics, brewing craft beer, making jewelry, and collections of antique radios.
Don El is survived by his children Shawn Dodds and wife Marsha Dodds, his daughter Kimberly Dodds and husband Matt Panning. Grandchildren Lauren Jones Cross, Stephanie Goertzen, Heather Watson, and Sarah Bryant. Great-grandchildren Jordan S, Skylar Jones, Dylan Jones, Ian Feary, Emma Feary, Oliver Watson, Heidi Watson, and Julian Bryant.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Dodds, parents Earl and Helen Dodds, sister Dolores Blessing, daughter Karen Ellis Conn and great-granddaughter Katelynn Feary.
A visitation for Don El will be held on July 14, 2021, from 4-6 PM at Floral Haven Visitation Suites.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 12:30 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
