Patsy, This is Mike Crane, I know you remember our visit at the Tulsa VA a while back? Just to let you know how I absolutely hate hearing this, and I would have definitely been at Don’s funeral if I hadn’t been going through so many health issues right now. I loved working with Don over the years, such a character he was! Always was in a cheerful mood, and it rubbed off on all the others he worked with. My prayers and blessings go out to you and your family! And just like Carole said, he was so special! Rest in peace my friend.

How lucky was a kid just starting out in the ministry be so blessed to have someone like Don sitting out in the pew? He was a member, a supporter, and definitely a friend. Like many of those folks at River Oaks Christian Church, Don was family to me. From fishing trips, fish fry’s, Easter picnics at the Volkls, Don was the best. I loved him as a church member and even more as a friend. Don’t you know that Tom, Bob, and Don are still telling fish stories. God bless you Don for taking this “Northener” and making me a better “Southener.”

So sorry for your families lost. Don was a wonder man and had a big heart. He was one of Ray’s favorite men to work with on the railroad. We have wonderful memories of the lake, ball games and many more. He loved his family and was proud of each and everyone of you. May God give you peace and be with all of you.

Don was one of the finest people I have ever had the pleasure to work with and call him a dear friend! This world is a better place because of Don Volkl. Don was blessed with a wonderful wife, Patsy, and two great kids, and six wonderful grandkids. I call this Family a gift from God! Heaven got a little brighter the day he went home!
