His home was always a safe haven to any and all that walked thru the doors. Although we chose him and he didn't really have a choice but to laugh and say oh ya their mine too. The one thing he taught us was to live everyday to the fullest. He was always ready and up for anything. We will always smile when we remember the farm boat and all the great times we had at the lake. If you wanted to ski he was there to pull you, morning, noon, or night. If we needed a dance partner he was there and still there when we wore out. I have watched him sit in silence, and could tell by the cute little twitching of his mouth that his thoughts were deeper than any of us would ever understand, deeper than he would ever let us know. Because of Don our lives are richer in more ways than anything money could buy.

Dear My Great Uncle Don, I wanted to tell you Thank You. For everything you tried to do for me and my brother when we were younger when we lived in Tulsa. I never did get to tell you that, I wanted to but I just didn't. You and Suzie would come and pick us up and take us to the lake with your family on several occasions, you where just trying to show us what fun was. On several occasions you knew that we would have a better Christmas if we came back to Oklahoma City and spent it with my Grandma Tommie. Back then I didn't understand what you were trying to do. But as an adult, it makes me smile. You might have never said you loved us but with your actions you did. Your will also ways be Papa Smurf to me. I know you hated it. But it was my way of getting your goat, but you know what you never said to me you hated or it bothered you. You just could tell by the way you would look at me to answer. I will miss you, But today you are celebrating because you are reunited with your Suzie,brother, mother, father and many more. I will see you again, Papa Smurf
