Donald Dean Kirk's Obituary
Donald Dean Kirk, 77, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010. He was born June 8, 1933, to Fred and Mayme (Johnson) Kirk in Delaware, Arkansas. He joined the United States Navy in 1950 and made it a career until he retired in 1980 as a Master Chief Petty Officer with 30 years of service to his country, serving both in the Korea and Vietnam conflicts. In his 30 years of service he served on the Aircraft Carriers USS Boxer (CV-21), USS Bon Homme Richard (CV-31), USS Yorktown (CV-10), USS Hancock (CV-19), USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63), USS Constellation (CVA-64), USS Kearsarge (CVS-33), USS Tarawa (LHA-1), and ending his career as the Command Master Chief of Naval Station North Island, Coronado, CA. After retirement he worked for ten years in the water department for the city of Broken Arrow. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane M. Kirk ' Broken Arrow, OK, sisters, Linda Risner and her husband Paul ' Broken Arrow, OK, Freddye K. Kama – Pensacola, FL. son, Donald Dean Kirk Jr. and his wife Tracy ' San Diego, CA, daughter Lisa J. Kirk ' Denver, CO, son Michael E. Kirk and his fiancé Lois Goar ' Parker, AZ, son Brian C. Kirk ' Tulsa, OK, son Timothy S. Kirk and his wife Megan ' Broken Arrow, OK, daughter Sarah M. Abbott and her husband John ' Broken Arrow, OK, grandchildren – Courtney Kirk, Matthew Kirk, Benjamin Southard, Stephanie Southard, Ryan Kirk, Shaylyn Kirk, Abigail Kirk, Sierra Abbott, Cameron Abbott, and great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bobby Kirk. Memorial services in his honor will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, November 26, 2010, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. Family suggests contributions be made to the American Lung Cancer Society.
