Dora L. Blocker's Obituary
On Saturday, October 20, 2018, Dora Louise Hill Blocker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 81.Dora was born on February 2, 1937 in Oketo, Kansas to Merlon and Ida (Thomas) Hill. She graduated from Summerfield High School in 1954. She then received her Secretarial Certificate from Lincoln School of Commerce. Dora began her professional career working for State Farm Insurance and then moved into education working for Oral Roberts University and Tulsa Community College. Although Dora never taught in the classroom, she assisted many students in furthering their education through her work in school administration. On September 6, 1958, Dora married Gary Blocker. Together they raised two children, Dorinda and Greg. This past September, Dora and Gary celebrated 60 years of marriage. Dora had a passion for helping people. She and Gary spent much of their time volunteering for organizations such as Mended Hearts, Neighbor for Neighbor, and Tulsa Performing Arts. They were very active at the Church of Saint Mary helping out in various roles in many different areas of ministry. Dora was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games. She was a caring and encouraging wife, friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.Dora was preceded in death by her father, Merlon, and mother, Ida. She is survived by her husband Gary, her two children, Dorinda and Greg, and their spouses, Kent and Andrea, her grandchildren Courtney and Zac, and great-grandchildren Deanna, Titus, and Caydence. The family will be having a graveside memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Saint Gregory’s Cemetery in Marysville, Kansas.
