Doris Irene Dollar's Obituary
Doris Irene Dollar, 99, of Tulsa, died peacefully Saturday morning, March 22, 2025, at the Villages of Southern Hills, Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she had been a resident for a few weeks.
Doris was born August 8, 1925, at Denton, Kansas, the youngest of five daughters born to Charles and Lucy Mae Swartz Gish. She grew up at Denton, graduating from Denton High School in 1943. Doris also graduated from Strickler's Business College in Topeka, KS and worked four years as a legal secretary for Allen and Ascough, Topeka. She was also a secretary 20 years for PSO, Public Service of OK in Tulsa.
Doris was married to Aldean Dollar on February 6, 1949, at Forbes AFB Chapel, Topeka, KS. They lived at Travis AFB, California 1950-54; Nagoya, Japan from 1954-
57; Ent AFB, Colorado Springs, 1957-1972, and in Tulsa since 1972. They had one daughter, Irene Suzanne, born December 8, 1953.
She was preceded in death by her husband Al, her daughter Irene, her parents and four sisters: Harriet Myers, Elva Mae Booth, Mildred Eby, and Evelyn Loyd. Survivors include her son-in-law Dan Mumm, Ordway, Colorado, 8 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews.
Doris was an active member and choir member of St. Mark's Methodist Church. She was a life member of the Air Force Sergeants' Auxiliary and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed family reunions with her Gish family, and time with her neighbors and many friends.
A celebration of life is planned for 11:00 AM Saturday, March 29, 2025, at St. Mark's Methodist Church, Rev. Barry Hayes and Rev. PJ Stewart officiating, with inurnment at Floral Haven.
Friends may call at St. Mark's Methodist Church after 9:00 AM on Saturday, March 29, and are invited to stay for lunch after the service to visit with the family. Memorial contributions are welcome to St. Mark's Methodist Church, 10513 E. Admiral P., Tulsa, OK 74116 or to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
