Mackie was a magical aunt who shared every form of love and joy imaginable with her family, near and distant. The hospitality of her home was unfailing–she could cook a mean biscuit with sausage gravy. She had a playful side that relished telling stories. She loved to talk about family genealogy and had a keen memory for facts and faces. There was a calmness and spiritual depth to her that communicated trust and a listening ear. She always brokered connectivity across her extended family, which included keeping up with this nephew in Virginia. Watching her rebond with my father, Win Holloway, in the last four years of his life is a beautiful memory I will always cherish. My heart goes out to her grieving children, David, Patty and Jeff, and to all of her in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren. -- Steven Holloway
